What is Body Scrub?

Body scrubs or exfoliators are substances that have abrasive nature, the level of abrasion can vary from little to extreme depending on the nature of the scrub. The abrasive substances just scrap off the dead skin from the body, leaving behind soft and smoother-looking skin. There is a huge variety of scrubs available in the market starting from the simplest one that is different types of loofah, moving to the use of salts and sugars, commercially available scrubs, dry brushes, and many more.

How does Scrubbing body benefits you?

We are aware of the fact that new cells are produced in the body every day. But falling off the cells is slow, which leads to the building up of a layer of dead skin over the body surface that makes skin dull. Moreover, processes like environmental pollution and stress also affect your skin.

There is a need to exfoliate the skin. So, that the layer of dead skin could be removed and we should be left with shiny and soft skin.

Scrubbing simply:

Improves the circulation of body

Removes the layer of dead skin

Scrapes off any kind of sebum and impurities

Unclog the pores

Helps to get rid of ingrown hair and razor bumps

Removes pigmentation and discoloration

For a person, who regularly shave his/her body. It becomes necessary to scrub the body, to avoid the incidence of ingrown hair and razor bumps.

Now Talking about the levels of Scrubbing:

For beginning level, it is advisable to start with body wash and loofah, or some kind of body brushes. These are gentle to your body.

Moving next level is natural loofah, which is a bit harder and is more abrasive.

At the same time, there are a lot of options available in the market which one can opt for.

Dry brushing is also a type of harsher scrubbing with a lot of benefits. We gently scrub the body with a dry brush gently, this not only removes the dead skin to the maximum but also improves the circulation of the body.

Things to be considered while scrubbing your body:

  • Start with wet skin, moist the skin with lukewarm water at least 15 prior to beginning with scrubbing.
  • Do it gently, do not use too much force
  • Do not do excess of scrubbing, prefer not to go beyond 3 times a week. I would personally like to add go 2 times a week. Too much scrubbing can irritate your skin and will make it dry

  • The most important do not forget to moisturize after scrubbing
